An Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) has been proposed to be developed in Rajpura-Patiala, Punjab under Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). The government of Punjab (GoP) has accorded high priority to developing the IMC and already allocated 1,100 acres of a land parcel located close to Rajpura town at a distance of 5.6 km to NH 44. The IMC is going to be connected to NH 44 and Rajpura bypass by a proposed 45 mt wide master plan road slated for commissioning by 2021. Considering the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) being constructed close to NH 44 along the existing Delhi-Amritsar BG Rail line, the proposed IMC will enjoy multi-modal connectivity to the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor stations by 2022 at Sir Hind, Sarai Banjara and Rajpura (Ludhiana-Pilkhani section) through NH 44. The site is a 20 minutes drive to Patiala town connected through NH 64, as the site is about 5.5 km distant from NH 64. The Rajpura – Bhatinda Broad Gauge rail line lies to the east parallel to NH 64.
Consultant has been appointed for the preparation of a detailed master plan and preliminary engineering activities for the proposed IMC site.
